I had an amazing Labor Day long weekend despite having to work overtime. Our product is at a critical stage, and because lots of things needed to be done, I went in on Saturday at the request of my manager. The job can be demanding at times, but that's hardly anything to complain about, especially considering that the company ordered lunch and dinner for our troubles. :-)
Later in the evening, my family hosted a welcome dinner for our new next-door neighbors, the Wilsons. Their wife Jenny and daughter Julia also enjoy cooking - just like Mom - meaning the table was full of good food. I've posted a few pictures here. Yum!
One of Dad's business associates invited my parents to some sort of corporate event Sunday evening. I stayed home as the event wasn't really suitable for me. However, that wasn't an issue as I used the opportunity to watch Star Trek Into Darkness on Amazon Instant Video. One thing I don't understand is why so many people consider it the worst Star Trek movie ever. At least I didn't think it was that bad. Speaking of which, I also saw several episodes of Star Trek: The Original Series online. There's a certain charm to that show despite its age.
Having had an eventful weekend, I didn't do much today other than listen to some online lectures and watch Star Wars: Clone Wars on YouTube. These breaks are never long enough. ^_^
Summer in review
The summer was nice in that there were several parties. First was a celebration dinner for Casey for getting into Yale. We later hosted a farewell lunch for the Lius before they moved back to China. There was also the annual Lab126 family picnic last month. Last but not least, some of Mom's classmates organized a reunion two Saturdays ago at the home of the Liang family in Fremont. That was definitely one of the highlights of the summer. You can go here for the photos.
The past few months were overall fun even though we mostly stayed home. Be sure to check out my other pictures.
The not-so-fun part is that I started suffering from pelvic pain about two months ago. I went to the doctor to get it checked out; the good news is that he said it's nothing serious. While the symptoms have much gotten better since then, they're still rather annoying. Blah.
