an awesome Memorial Day weekend + level 85 mining in RuneScape

I hope everyone had a great Memorial Day weekend.

Friday was lots of fun as my family went to Monterey with the Swansons in their recreational vehicle. This was super exciting as we had never been in an RV before. It worked out perfectly because Dad had always wanted to rent an RV for a road trip.

The not-so-fun part is that Mom and I both got car sick during the ride. I guess trying to watch Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith on the go wasn't such a good idea. Though I felt a little better when we stopped at a beach for pictures, the nausea returned as soon as we were back on the road. Blah.

At any rate, Monterey was pretty nice. All of us enjoyed strolling along the harbor and checking out the gift shops. I treated us to some ice cream before our families rented a surrey each and rode them through town. This was followed by an excellent dinner at the Red Snapper Restaurant. Yum!

Mom and I got car sick again on the way home. It was actually worse this time; I was rather glad when the ride was finally over. While this was an unpleasant experience, the day trip was overall enjoyable.

The fun wasn't over yet: the Swansons enjoyed our company so much that they stayed at our house for a couple more hours. Jason and Michael are also avid RuneScape players and kept me entertained while I training mining. Our families didn't part ways until almost midnight!

Level 85 mining in RuneScape

I reached my goal of 85 mining on Saturday morning after hours of tedious grinding. This means I can now mine runite ore without boosts. I don't think I could mine another rock anytime soon!

You can see the screenshot here. The downside is that Jason and Michael had to leave and didn't get to see me level up. While I could have reached 85 mining before going to bed, the Swansons didn't want to stay up that late. Oh well.

The rest of the long weekend wasn't too uneventful. However, I'm not going to complain because Friday absolutely rocked. :-)

done with my second year at Berkeley

Summer break is finally here. The Math 54 exam was challenging, but at least I've finished all of my finals. W00t!

I don't know where all that time went, but my sophomore year seems to have flown by at the speed of light. One thing for sure is that I'll miss my roommate Alan. He was one of the coolest people I've ever met. I hope we'll run into each other again on campus.

For those still in school, I wish you all the best of luck on your finals. :-)
